just had 18 great days in bali,staying at KP in Legian and Santai villas in Candi Dasa.Holiday could not have gotten off to a worse start,we arrived at Brisbane airport to be told our Virgin flight was delayed by 12 hours.As we had already travelled from Nsw it was too far to go home.Virgin were pretty good,they gave us 42 dollars each in airport cash to spend in the terminal and refunded in credit theflight cost to Bali.A long long day,42dollars doesn,t go far at 7d a stubbie. We should have left at 10am departed finally at 1 30am the next day !!! We had booked a vip visa cost 250,000rp for 3 of us.Dana our driver,who i always use ,greeted us at the airport saying,Welcome back Mr Mark i have some cold Bintang in the van for you.At 6.30am it was the last thing i felt like ,but since he made the effort i had 2 on the way to KP Hotel staff were great,gave us our keys and said Do paperwork later(dana had rang them about delay)Kumala Pantai is great value for money,good sized rooms,nice sized balcony,good breakfasts,ideal location. Restruants only had 1 bad meal out of 18 and that was at a place rated nnmber1on Trip Advisor,called Bebeck Bali in Seminyak.The food was so bad i refused to pay for it.To make matters worse we had invited 7 other people for a birthday meal,not 1 meal out of 10 was up to standard,so we paid for drinks and left (after a huge row )They advertised Special Balinese Vegetables(cold semi frozen from a packet),Sauteed potatoes(cold frozen chips)and the duck was so over cooked i would still be chewing it now.Cafe Marazano,near KP was a great find,as was Yutz,Warung96,Ultimo all good.Shopped at all the usual spots,liked Geneva,good value,had leather jackets made 800,000rp,great quality,wife had boots,waistcoat,skirt,andbag made all excellent Dana runs a small tour company,so he organised abike trip for us,brillant,there were 6 of us,It lasted 5hours with plenty of stops in small villages,relatives houses and finally after lunch at a small school,were all the kids were trying out their english.The cost was 250,000 per person.Iam a very slow typer so will continue later
