Air Asias TUNE hotels have a unique way of addressing the issue.
You can "Pre-book" a given period of time within a 24 hr period that the air con will run.
So if you pay more, you can keep your cool, while others may only want a few "sleeping" hours, and not bothered about the daytime.
Smart operators without these capabilities will install electronic type tags (so the plastic comb is a no go), and weld the keyring closed.
If utilising these practices, it needs to be ensured that the air con is working efficiently when it is turned on.
