Last year I was chomping at the bit to book MEL-DPS for May/June 09(low season) and I booked as soon as flights became available on line. Had I waited until the Jetstar specials were available I'd have saved $600.

Generally, there are NO specials for school and public holidays (Peak period) I have already booked Pacific Blue for 17th Dec 09 MEL-DPS. We paid $2,120.98 for two adults. The only available Virgin flights for the same dates are now $3,480.98.

I've been watching Jetstar's website for months... As yet they haven't listed a Jetsaver direct flight MEL-DPS for that period.

My opinion is now... If you are travelling in the low season WAIT. If your travelling in school and Public holidays then I would book as soon as flights become available.

Usually tickets are not released for sale untill 11 months before departure. However, since I've been watching the websites I have noticed that it can take a couple of months before the Jetsaver fares are released... prior to that it says 'Sold Out' in fact the Jetsaver fares haven't been released and loaded on the Website.

Cheers Geri
