In another article, the Gubernur was also complaining about the design of the new Bali International Airport. He complained that:
1. The design showed no Balinese architectural influence at all, though the Airport serves foreign tourists interested in Balinese culture.
2. The design was all about maximising the retail space in Departures (similar to the first redesign of Sydney International Airport).
Several years ago (before Presiden SBY), my wife was shown around the new Jakarta Airport by the head of Customs at the Airport. She was very proud of the close circuit cameras on every customs counter, where she could monitor the actions of each customs officer. She was also proud of the new customs desks which had no drawers or cupboards for officials to hide goods seized or "donated".
