I carry and use credit cards internationally and prefer it to a wad of notes that can be stolen/lost. Maybe I am particularly lucky but I have never had any cards compromised. of the two people That I know that have had card details compromised the details appear to have been lifted in Australian and then transactions started appearing in Asia.
Despite the supposed "RAMPANT ASIAN CRIME GANGS" I would go so far as to say that credit card fraud is no greater threat in 2009 that cheque washing and the other types of fruaud that was perpetuated on consumers 30 yrs ago.
