W.A. Media has an obligation to its viewing/reading/listening public to get some answers for them from IndoJet.
I am amazed that these "clowns" have been able to virtually walk-away unscathed from the fiasco they created!
They have been very clever in simply "Temporarily suspending flights" which gives the appearance that they are not in financial difficulties - just suffering some "operational problems" with respect to "available aircraft".
They have an obligation, both profesional and moral, to ensure that the passengers carried by them (or on their behalf by other Airlines)to Bali are returned by the first flight following their scheduled date of return by any Airline on which IndoJet can procure a seat, at the expense of IndoJet. If they can not come-up with the money to being their passengers home to Perth, then what hope is there that, in Six Weeks Time, there will be anything available to pay refunds to ticketed passengers.
I am also surprised that the W.A. Media has not picked-up on the fact that IndoJet has placed the ownus on its already-ticketed passengers to advise them "if they require a refund - or if they wish to re-book at a later stage" If they are accepting new bookings and receiving money for these (but how can the issue a ticket when there has been no re-commencement date for their scheduled services) without meeting their existing financial commitments, they should be required - not just by Media pressures but by the W.A. Government - to prove that they are financially-sound and able to meet all of their obligations with respect to refunds to ALL ticketed passengers. As they have no specific date for resumption of their services, it is fair to assume that services may NEVER resume.
Having been a Travel Agent trading 100% ethically for more than 20 Years and paying heavily to ensure my credibility with the Travel Compensation Fund, I am appalled that so many agencies just simply "go through the hoop" and leave the TCF (and of course contributions from its members) to cover their losses. TCF should become involved at this stage of the IndoJet Saga and demand that they submit proof that they have sufficient funds held in Trust to ensure that all "creditors" (and that covers passengers holding tickets for which a service will not be provided)are protected and that the TCF will not have to become involved.
If this was carried-out with a level of absolute transparency, and a positive outcome was announced, it would dispel any doubts that people may presently have regarding the financial viability of IndoJet.
I know that if I was the owner of IndoJet and intended to offer Scheduled Flight Services once more, I would be beating on the door of W.A. Media and asking them to cover my case.
The longer this drags-on without an effective solution being publicly announced, the less chance there is of IndoJet being able to re-establish their services as they will have totally lost the confience of the W.A. travelling public.
