we just got back from Seminyak. Ask the taxi to drop you at the corner of Jalan Lasmana (or Jalan Oberoi) then you should be in the thick of things. If you walk down Jalan Lasmana in the direction of the beach you'll come across heaps of lovely restaurants. A couple of the best are Trattoria and Ultimo (both Italian).
Batering - i reckon you should end up paying 50% of their starting price, so start at maybe 25% of their price then meet at 50% (this is my general rule, except when you KNOW they are asking well over 200% of what you should be paying). Best advice is remember to do it with a smile and a laugh.
