I, like you, have been in this situation many times. Even a once-off 24-hour delayed flight can cause chaos in times of peak occupancy as it is difficult to "evict" check-out guest/s at times of peak occupancies when it is sometimes impossible to move them. You then have the problem of what to do with the guest/s arriving that day to check into what should have been vacant room/s.
When dealing with a "cowboy airline" who has made changing schedules into an "art form", the accommoation operators quickly realise as you have, that it's just not worth the pressures placed on both guests and front-of-house staff to accept bookings from passengers travelling with them.
