I know this may not be helpful but make sure you check before going to the Brisbane airport. When I go Cairns to Darwin and then Darwin to Bali I actually have to leave from the Cairns international airport and have to do the whole thing of customs. When you get to Darwin International departure you have to do customs again. My baggage is always checked right throuh to Bali from Cairns though. Go figure.
