I was operating Golden Bali & Global Travel in Adelaide when Air Paradise collapsed. Some of my clients were given refunds on their Credit Cards (courtesy of my Bank Account) even though they had held tickets for more than Six Months. Same happened with hundreds of other Travel Agencies and Wholesalers. I saw more than AU$60,000 just "disappear" from the Golden Bali Account as we were "the initial point of sale". It made no difference that we had on-forwarded (and had proof)monies to Wholesalers who had issued tickets through BSP and tranferred funds to Air Paradise.

If you paid by Credit Card direct to IndoJet then you should have no problems in receiving a refund - but that's of course if they operated a Trust Account for their clients' monies and did not release funds until flight date - and do not go into liquidation. Whilst Travel Agents must be a member of the Travel Compensation Fund which protects clients in the event of the collapse of the Agent, there was no such legislation in place with respect to Airlines. Look at the Compass and Ansett debacles where the TCF took no responsibility. If IndoJet is a TCF Member then passengers will ultimately not be out-of-pocket (but reimbursement won't happen overnight). It IndoJet is classified as an "Airline" then have no idea how people will go for reimbursement in the event of a collapse.
