Flew Perth to Bali 15 June - 22 June with Jetstar - this is my 2nd flight with them and I have been satistied with them both times. We did run out of incoming cards on the flight so we had to wait until we landed and got the card before we could fill them out however the slight delay didnt make much difference.
We had to fill in health cards which I felt was a waste of time. I didnt feel I was monitored and they took my word for the fact I was feeling well. Not sure if there was monitoring that I didnt notice?
We stayed at Dewi Sri mainly because they had a family room with closing doors and also we couldnt get BGH with connecting rooms when we had decided to go.
Dewi Sri - basically you get what you pay for - the room satisfied us the size was great and perfect for 2 early risers and 1 late riser to be able to shut the doors and do our own thing. The down side was we were on the 2nd floor and after 5 days of shopping the 2 flights of stairs were killing us - maybe our fitness is the question here not the hotel??? I felt the lighting was very dark but overall we were happy with the hotel - espesially for the price!
We got 8000Rp/$1 for most of the time - the last few days we were getting 8200Rp/$1. We discovered a drive through money changer which I loved - how easy - I didnt even have to get out of the car!
We shopped hard for the first few days at the usual places: Carrefour, Denpasar - Robinson, Matahari, tupperware, Mal Galaria, Quicksilver, Billabong surf outlets.
The highlight was probably Tupperware - yes I am slightly addicted anyway to tupperware but my $120 bought me an amazing amount of things compared to Aus! They didnt have all our products so they offered to deliver all our order to our hotel the next day - we had a slight panic when it wasnt there however I am thankful our Balinese friend called on our behalf to discuss the issue and we were happy they would deliver asap.
Yes we got our whole order after 3 days not 1. If you go I am positive you will get your order just allow the 3-4 days you may need to wait for them to get their delivery.
We ate at Zanzibar, Ketumbar, Sky Garden, The Beach House, The Beach Shack, Indonational. Maybe a few twice - I cant remember any others.
We didnt have a bad meal!
We loved the Beach House in Canggu on a Sunday - I loved it in March when I came and shared with friends this time. We went with 9 and were joined by 3 later. Our meals were quick and very nice - the 3 that came later seemed to wait a while for their food - at the same time the bar seemed to slow down and we waited a while for our drinks. Overall our experience was great and we will all definately be going back.
The Beach House in garlic lane was such fun! I picked up a flyer the day before - booked a table close to the stage via sms to the number on the flyer and had a fantastic meal, drinks and drag show! We all had such a fun night and the staff and entertainers were great.
We went to Ku De Ta for drinks - ordered 3 mojito's without looking at the menu and was unpleasantly surprised at the 380,000Rp bill! I must say they were really nice Mojito's!!!!!!!
Ketumbar is one of my favourites it has fantastic food and they do Italian and Indonesian food equally as well - and the best Mojito's in all of Bali!!(at a reasonable price - see last paragraph!)
I had suits made from my tailor and other clothes which I had organised to be ready when I got there so I was so excited to have him meet us at out hotel with my clothes to wear for the week and to take home for work!
We went to the Safari Park - the baby elephant is beautiful! If you like animals you will love this place - I was lucky enough to be on the front page of the Jakarta post in Feb 08 holding the baby lion and I was just as excited being there again this time.
We had dinner one night at our friend Putu's house, his Mum gave us a sate and Nasi Goreng lesson which was really nice.
My shopping filled my suitcase with clothes from my tailor, tupperware, childrens shoes (from Robinson) childrens clothes (from Matahari's) I bought some purses and bags from Ketut's.
I was here this time with girlfriends and I am going to need to detox for the next couple of weeks now I am back in Perth!
I am going again in Oct with the family so my trip then will be much more educational.
