I wondered if anybody had used the travel option of flying to Bali via Jakarta? I understand the flight from Sydney involves about a three hour stop over, but you have to do your customs etc in Jakarta and then presumably go from international to domestic to fly to Bali. Is this challenging or time consuming?

When you arrive in Bali from Jakarta, you have already done your visa documentation. Does this mean you get through quicker?

And finally: Is it worthwhile stating a night in Jakarta? Are there interesting things to see and do?

The trip from Wellington to Bali can be pretty long, especially if you have to go to Auckland or Chrostchurch first. I understand the Sydney/Jakarta/Bali option can be quite a bit cheaper, but I want to try and work out how much of a hassle it is and how much extra time it adds to the jounrey.

Your feedback would be appreciated.

Thomo (NZ).
