we've been taking our kids to Bali since they were 6 months old. my oldest is now almost 5. To reinforce how lucky they are in Aus we now make it part of every trip to visit an orphanage. There is a great one in Amlapura that we're fond of(see archives or I've left email open if you want more info).
My son is now saving some of his spending money to donate towards food for our next visit. His school is also getting involved.
This is a great way to show that Bali is more than just a holiday paradise.
