Fares are really quite good since most flights direct are full around school holidays Sept/Oct. I can virtually fly both ways business for same price as direct economy - decided that would be my incentive. And yes I was told that it is much easier to go thru immigration and customs in Jakarta so although I arrive in Bali 5 hours later and leave 5 hours earlier, if you allow for the delay in clearing immigration and VOA sometimes in Bali it works out at around 3 hours difference. The other incentive was flying when I want to, access to the QF lounge in sydney and the aircraft is brand new with individual TV cetera. Still convincing myself here :)
