You are bunch of crazy tourists. Everywhere in the world if someone say I spend 10,000 $ for accommodation worth 100$ per night all hotels bend over to accommodate this and give you best price. Yes you should not stated yours given price its not good business practice. But you can always say I have better deal and can you mach up with it.
