There will be a hundred or more people doing exactly as you need to do.
Just follow the queue of people through to the immigration desks area, stand in line and watch what everone else is doing and just follow suit.
You can legally take about 10 grand out of Australia, so that shouldn't be an issue unless you are planning on having a "real" good time!!
Other posters have given good advice re- porters, luggage, money changers and taxis.
You also have plenty of time to read stuff, and ask specific questions on here before you go.
