The Air Paradise collapse was I feel a separate issue and to be fair it came about largely because of the collapse of tourism after the bomb. Not to say the collapse was handled in a particularly good way for those who had bookings. Sadly these things rarely are. Ansett's demise was a shambles for those with booking too.

As to what is suitable or not for the site and I know many won't agree with me on this, that is for Indonesia to decide. It's their country. The memorial was erected largely in line with Western custom for the comforting of Westerners since from what I can gather once the appropriate ceremonies are complete the Balinese are not in the habit of much in the way of annual remembrances. It's not their custom. So they did that for "us". Enough.

Many of those that died were lovers of the party scene so I wonder if they would find it so terrible for a night club to be built?

Me? I think Bali has at least enough night clubs but it's not for us foreigners to try and dictate really is it?
