BGH and Patra. 2 x deluxe rooms at BGH and a deluxe suite at Patra. 2 small boys at Patra and the 2 boys + a teenager at BGH.
Patra - obviously the room at the Patra was beautiful. Without the t/ager there we had acres of room to move. It was a little far out to walk. Food and drinks very expensive at the hotel.
BGH - the rooms are very dated here. When I first walked in (close to midnight so tired) I just thought, eewwhhhh! The mattress they brought for my young son to sleep on was disgusting. After a couple of days you got used to the 'tired' room. It didn't ruin our stay or anything. Difference between sup and del is superior faces carpark/road and deluxe is garden facing.
That's the only downside. The rest of the hotel is beautiful. Lovely gardens and beautiful pools, 3 I think. Right on the beach so the sunsets are beautiful. Their restaurant, Boardwalk, is exceptionally good value and nice food with many choices. We ate there alot and never had a bad meal. They have a bar with a pool table in the hotel, t/ager spent quite a bit of time there. The restaurant out the front, Kafe Batan Waru is also really nice and has some themed nights like: chilli crab night, BBQ night etc.. Get there earlyish if you want the crab tho as they ran out early one night. The Japanese upstairs was also good and reasonably priced. They do fried chicken a little like KFC that our littlies would eat.
Brilliant location as you're in the middle of everything there but it's still peaceful in the hotel. B/F was the normal buffet with egg station that also does pancakes. Staff all lovely.
If we could put the room from the Patra into the BGH we would be very happy. Haven't booked there the next couple of trips as $$$ hasn't been right for us but it would be our favoured hotel of choice. You will have a great time there. : )
