Returning recently on PB and 2 fellow travellers had between them 9 or more kg excess checked in luggage plus the usual carry ons. The check in staff suggested they repack, which they did by pulling out several shoulder bags and filling them up. Back on the scales and they were now 40kg between them and all was ok. The weight going onto the aircraft was the same though! All a bit of a farce.
