Although in 14 trips or so, I have never had Bali belly, a family relative who joined up with us from Melbourne, ended up being diagnosed with salmonella on her return to Australia in 2005.She took sick the day before departure, and was quite ill on the flight back.
The hospital here said that salmonella can easily be passed on from dough products which have not been completely cooked, and that it is one of the more common ways of getting it.
Whilst I ate food on several occasions from Breadtalk, Jo ate food from there SEVERAL times EVERY day, so it was certainly a "suspect" as far as she was concerned.
If you are worried about getting sick, then don't exclude outlets such as Breadtalk or Maccas from your list. You can just as easily get sick from eating there as eating the local foods.
So "touch wood",(& No I don't take any precautions at all), except to wash my hands before each meal) I hope to remain well during my forthcoming 2 weeks holiday in Bali in 10 days time.
