Day 7 - Thurs 21st May ...continued...
That evening we decided to catch up with our old mates at the "Bali Dynasty", cabbed it there but the driver took as on a long way round trip trying to avoid traffic snarl around Kuta.We didn't mind, saw a few things we hadn't seen previous trips, and it was only another $1.
We ate at "Febris" in the hotel opposite Dynasty, reasonable, great trio of guys sing requests at tables, and can get 10 minute neck massage for zilch! Finally caught up with the guys in the band in "Gracie Kelly's Irish Bar" in Dynasty, have know them since our stay there 8 years ago. A benevolent lady by the name of "Judy" brought them to Adelaide about 3 years ago, and because they couldn't work here and weren't allowed to bring their instruments, my band in Adelaide let them use our equipment.
They were originally known as the "Larazi Bros" when it was the 4 brothers, they had a friend from Flores join them and since, one of the brothers has met an Aussie girl and is now living in Tassie, they are now called "The Rice Paddies!" very clever !!!!! As usual they let me sit in for a couple of sets, and also as usual "Gerry" the drummer disappeared while I was playing so he could chat up the chics!
We cabbed back to the KP and had our usual night cap!
Day 8 - Fri 22nd
The day started as usual at breakfast, but then "Ne Jan" (wife) felt ill and and to head for the little room. she ended up spending all day on the toilet and in bed, not the normal "runs" etc, just cramps, difficult on the toilet and sweats.
We were planning to head up to the "Hope Children's Home" orphanage, so Judy stayed with Jan and "I Jan" & I org Wayan to take us to the orphanage. As usual we took a case full of clothes, some rice and money. We discovered when we got there that they had been living in a large tin shed just down the lane for 12 months because their usual premises was being renovated. The 120 plus kids had grown to 130+ in that time and they are expecting to be back in their normal place by mid June. It is always enlightening to visit the lovely "Trisnawathy" who has devoted her life to the kids, her team and of course the lovely, happy, smiling kids. When we got there we also found out they were down to their last bag of rice!
I am hoping there is some benevolent person reading this who can assist me. The kids have got a set of drums and other equipment but their electric guitars are all stuffed, if anyone has an unused, but working order lead and base guitar, they don't want, can you contact me so I can org to collect it for the kids, music can be so wonderful for them to enjoy their simple lives?????
