Because peoples views and tastes vary so much when it comes to food and accomodation, you are going to have to find out about Jimbaran for yourself.
There are certainly some very good competitors now, although there is still something "iconic" about the Jimbaran location.
The "Pantai" restaurant offers a good location with reasonably priced food, among others mentioned here and previously.
Maybe some of the seafood places around Jimbaran that are not part of the main touristy strip may be worth looking at.
