We stayed at Puri Lumbung in room 14. Our room was invaded each night by rats which chewed through water bottles, watch bands etc. and tried to carry some items away, leaving them under furniture. When we told the staff about it they shrugged it off as a "mouse problem". One of our group had a rat on the bed side table chewing on her water bottle at 2 am. The room that we stayed in is very open and entry by rodents happens if they are about. Other rooms are better enclosed, I suspect. We were unfortunate to be there during a rat infestation, I hope.
On to restaurants. Ngiring Ngewedang is a 15 minute drive away and great in daytime mainly for the view, not that Munduk itself is lacking in that department! We walked the main street of Munduk for places to eat and found that Munduk has no "great" restaurants. It is possible that the restaurant at Puri Lumbung is as good as it gets. We also found that cold drinks are hard to come by, and even at Puri Lumbung they could not produce a beer that had been in a fridge. They were in the process of relocating the kitchen so again, benefit of the doubt. We tried several places for a cold drink (none cold except 1) and meals. We ended up returning to the only place with a fridge and cold drinks, Puri Alam. Food is pretty good too. View stunning. Don't be put off by the entrance from the road though! It is on the other side of the road from Puri Lumbung and about 50 metres down the hill. They have a web-site, google it. We returned there 2 weeks ago during a day trip and nothing seems to have changed, beers at Puri Lumbung still very cold. In fact the fridge is in the seated area and they encourage you to help yourself if the staff are off getting orders etc. The girls took gin and added it to the cold tonic waters.
