210 days for a Balinese rice crop to mature from planting from what I was told over a few years. These days the Balinese grow different varieties of rice which may be harvested earlier but they possibly stick to the known system for religious reasons.Yes Nyepi is held once a year March/April in recent years according to the Balinese calendar which is available at a small cost from book shops, warungs which sell newspapers.Very handy & interesting to read.My Muslim staff read it regularly,it gives info regarding coming events, office & bank closures etc.& when the landlord's due to visit for sembahyang.(praying at the house). The calendar reminds of when certain things are to be performed. That way one knows beforehand with less inconvenience.Special day to start house foundations, walls, roofing & so on.Also piercing the buffalo's nose or castrating the piglets.Sorry,no day for buying local anaesthetic.
