Indonesia and Australia use the GSM standard.

Japan seems to use something else. I tried to put a Mentari Sim card into the handset belongong to a Japanese tourist in Padang Bai this year and it would not work.

Your Nokia will be able to roam in Bali if you are on a post paid plan and ring your phone company before you leave Auustralia.

You can use a Balinese SIM card like Mentari if your Nokia is unlocked.
