if you go to virgin website and look under oversize bagage limits,surfboards are in sports equipment and they allow you an extra 5kg just been for 3 weeks and had 10kg of surfboard and 15kg in suitcase in both directions and had no problems if your board weighs less than 10 kg when packed you can stuff more shopping in it and bring it up to10 kg hope this helps
