you're as honest as the day is long. You call it as you see it and I must say, that is very refreshing.
However,to simply trash my list without putting forward your own thoughts and suggestions is quite simply no use to me.
Input from a long-time resident of Sanur is just what I'm looking for.Someone who knows this village like the back of their hand and every little food stop in it.

So come on...what's YOUR top 5?

But before you start, you'll probably need to know a few things about what I'm looking for in a restaurant experience so that you can tailor your response to my needs.

This is my 6th trip to Bali with my wife, but this time we're taking (for the 1st time) her 2 adult children and their partners so I want them to have a bit of variety when we eat out.
I tend to never eat at the same place twice in Bali so I'm always on the lookout for a new place to try including this 5.

Food quality is of the utmost importance obviously.I like food that uses the finest ingredients, cooked with flair and passion by someone who really knows how to create.I like to try the best in any cuisine category particularly high quality Indonesian, but I also look for the 'total' dining experience when eating out and place a lot of importance on service levels and the ambience of a restaurant etc.

I'll always go for quality over quantity and while I love sinking more than a few beers over a brontosaurus burger in a rowdy expat sports bar,my real love is an evening of good wine and fantastic food at a nice restaurant with family and friends.
My absolute pet hate is expensive, crap food at a pretentious, poncy restaurant....an evening wasted that I'll never get back.

My favourite restaurant type is the 'hidden gem'...hungry newcomers to the restaurant scene flexing their culinary muscles.Fantastic new eateries trying to make a name for themselves with exciting, innovative cuisine coming out of a kitchen that has a passion for what's on the plate.

You mentioned 2 restaurants that are a long way off...which 2?
Am I on the money with any of them?

Come on Ron...give us your top 5.The fate of 4 Bali newcomers, and my credibility as their Bali Food Guide rests on it.
