I managed to get the three of us onto the next day's flight home without any trouble at all. No wait listing and no dramas, just done on the phone direct with Garuda.
I did make the original bookings direct with Garuda though, and when they rang me to tell me of the changes to non-direct flights, I was offered no cost change over to a direct flight in the days before or after our existing booking. Told her I'd have to check with the others in my group, and she to just call back the next day. I did just that and they were changed while I waited on the phone. Just waiting on the new tickets to be issued now.
