I was in Ubud for eight days in February this year. My favourite restaurant for informal dining was the Kafe in Jalan Hanoman. I ate there regularly and did not get sick. They also have very clean western style toilets and WiFi.
The Gaia Warung Kopi in Jalan Dewi Sita was a disapointment. I ate there twice and each time was equally disapointing. This restaurant has all the essentials, an expresso coffee machine, interesting décor and attentive waitresses. All that is missing is someone who can cook!
For live jazz, I went to the Jazz Café in Jalan Sukma which also serves meals.
