I was looking for some frangipani's for my sister and found an excellent shop that specialises mainly in them. There are on Jalan Patih Jelantik just off Jalan Legian - I think it's opposite Marcelle's shoe shop.
I also spent a lot of time looking for things in the small shops, but it's definitely better when you find a store with everything right there for you to browse through. I got 3 and they were all rolled up and packed neatly for the trip home. They survived 3 separate flights Bali-Darwin-Brisbane-Mackay and weren't damaged at all.
