except an Indonesian citizen can own freehold (hak milik) land. Not even an Indonesian company can own freehold - it converts to a "right to use" title which eventually reverts to the government. Disreputable agents may try to offer freehold but it is impossible. The best you will buy is a lease on a property which may or may not be freehold, and often the ultimate buyer is getting a 2nd or 3rd hand lease after the land owners, developers and marketers. Before considering the step consult with a good notaris who is unrelated to any aspect of the deal you may want to do.
