It was 7.8 rupiah when I left on wednesday night. weather fine, a few showers, but still very hot.
Be warned about the folk I call the 'shufflers' They advertise a higher rate that the authorised money changers, and I know some people who have been a lot of times who have been taken by this scam. What they do is say, sorry only got 20,000.00s. So you say OK and they count it out very nicely in piles in front of you. You check and they then pick it all up to stack in neatly. This is done near the edge of the desk. As they stack, they let a heap of notes fall on their side of the desk. They are very quick, and if you should happen later to notice and go back there is no way they will admit it. I was lucky as when it was done to my daughter a friend of mine, who was the nephew of some head honcho in the police force went back and made threats and got the money back. When you go to the authorised people once they have counted the money out they will not touch it again. So take care.
