I had a bag that went missing between Darwin and Brisbane on a stop over from Bali. I checked it in at Darwin however it did not arrive in Sydney. Jetstar were very helpful and confident that I would get it back. It was missing on Saturday last week when I arrived in Brisbane. Jetstar were very helpful and kept in contact with me. It was located- it had remained in Darwin. It was delivered to my door in Ipswich on Monday afternoon.
In December we had a bag that went missing between Brisbane and Sydney. we were assured that it would be in Bali when we landed, however it didn't. That was another story... communication was more difficult from Bali. It did arrive almost 3 days later to Bali. we were covered by travel insurance and were compensated for the delay. Jetstar also gave us $100 cash- converted to ruphia. My husband had only the clothes he stood in, in fact all our chrissy presents were in the missing bag...but thankfully it arrived Xmas eve.
I did not make any claims for the delay last week as i was home.As i was waiting at the carousel, one lady did return with a bag that wasn't hers. She had taken the bag to her car, before she realised that it did not belong to her. She was honest enough to bring it back and return it to the carousel. Air ports I think need to have a system of some sort to make sure that people do only collect the items that correspond with their luggage tags. A few people unfortunately are not always honest. I certainly would have lodged a claim if my precious bali shopping was not returned. I did have a gut feeling the bag would not be found but I was wrong. Staff for Jetstar said that they would send me paperwork to lodge a claim if the bags were still missing after 5 days. Jetstar were so very helpful and i certainly can not complain.
I hope you get your bags.I would be asking for the paper work and phoning insurance company by now if it were me.
