I went to the GWK Cultural Park last year and was hoping that it was going to be, as the name suggested, an opportunity to experience the rich Balinese culture.
Sadly it is not.
It's a quarry. It has some carvings (not impressive by Balinese standards), some gardens (again, average by Bali standards) and the bits and pieces of what might one day be the mother of statues.
Oh, and of course, shops and a restaurant.
As a venue for large events, it's perfect. As a showcase for an extraodinarily diverse and fascinating culture, it's a failure.
