Having flown Jet*, Air Asia Indonesia and Air Asia Malaysia, what they offer is, in a way similar and based on "user-pays", but Air Asia's prices ARE budget unlike some of Jet*'s.

I have not flown Air Asia-X on a long-haul route but if along lines of its short-haul "sister" carriers, the staff are really friendly and professional and I have also been impressed with both the quality and prices of the food and beverages served.

I was also fortunate when a guest on Air Asia's inaugural service Manado/Kuala Lumpur, to be given a full inspection tour of the Air Asia Training Facility near KL Airport. They train Cabin Crew, Ground Handlers, Engineering and Flight Deck Crew from the ground-up and have two in-house Flight Simulators (great to experience first-hand. The experience made me feel really confident flying with them.

By the way, the liquid restriction is part of International legislation affecting ALL carriers.
