Generally Balinese find it rude to be addressed by their real names, but if you put Pak or Ibu in front of it, it becomes a bit less rude. I meet more and more people who introduce themselves directly, but it's still not the norm. Previously, these names were given to indicate social/familial status, and as such were expressely meant to be NON-personal. Nyoman Sudah will ask you to call him Nyoman precisely because it is not his own name, but one he shares with a group.
