We had a similar experience with circle k. They had mix max's on special.I bought 12 to make the most of the special but noticed he wasnt putting it through the till, he was adding it up on the calculator, he was charging me full price, the excuse was that they were too cheap..wtf??? He probably pocketed the difference which would only be a few dollars to us but hey, its the principle.
