however Balinese have a different way at looking at a funeral and I really don't believe that your friend would have minded. A lot of tourists are encouraged to attend funerals and it just happened that these girls and guys were on the beach when the funeral started (they probably had no clothes with them) and this would have been an amazing site to see, as most Balinese funerals are. (Pushing to the front to take a photo is a bit much though).
A funeral for a Balinese is just another ritual in life, and now your friend gets to spend some time on Agung with the Gods until hi next reincarnation and your probably correct, a few bikini babes is a nice send off.
Although you will miss your friend, he is just on to the next stage, I wish him a good journey.
