We stayed at The Barong 9 years ago on our first trip to Bali. We loved it. It had a good mix of people - not all youngies or oldies. Very friendly and the restaurant was lovely. The room was quite a good size and layout - not too squishy. And the bathroom was fine (I spent a lot of time in it throwing up with Bali Belly!!!!). It was comfortable. The only reason we didn't stay there when we went back lat time was that it is on a very busy street, which was great for our first visit, but we wanted a bit more peace and quiet this time.
We are fairly easily pleased though, so I'm sure there will be plenty who don't agree. If you are expecting to walk into the Sheraton, you will be dissappointed. But if you want somewhere clean and comfortable, close to everything with good food and people then you will enjoy it. Can't argue with the price though.
