over the years, especially on swimming holidays. Have used peroxide then water to flush. Have used cotton tips to help clean. Was a convert to ear candling - yes it does remove all the gunge. In fact I played with my ears so much I ended up with a pseudomonas infection in them!!!And now I'm slightly deaf in one ear.

These days I keep my nails cut real short so I cannot scratch them when they get itchy, and dry them throughly with a tissue after showering. The wax is there for a reason - PROTECTION. Just last week I felt sore in one ear but left it alone - all was fine in 48 hrs.

I was in real trouble in Bali a few years back (couldn't hear a bloo y thing and it was AGONY to chew). Using sign language at an Apotek I got some ear drops that fixed the problem - GP back home said they were fine (had antibiotic and anaesthetic in them).

I guess what I'm trying to say is leave your ears ALONE. The old saying about anything smaller than your elbow is sound advice.
