Last year, I travelled with a group of Czech surfers from Lombok to Bali. We flew IAT Airlines for Rp 309,000 each one way (current price Rp350,000 to Rp 400,000). IAT had no problems carrying the surfboards in its Fokker F50 aircraft.
The surfers had been staying in Kuta Lombok and surfing at Grupuk. At Grupuk, the locals tow the surfers beyond the break with their outrigger canoes powered by outboard motors.
Chartering a bemo from the airport to Kuta Lombok should cost about Rp 90,000 each for a group of six surfers including surfboards.
In Lombok, you must bargain hard with airlines and bemos.
