There is a large variety of hotels. The two best are probably La Walon and Masa Inn. There are also lots of smaller hotels such as Secret Garden, AP Inn, Fat Yogi's, Kedins Inn, Dianna House. Poppie cottages is also there, but outside of my price range. Most of them two or three star. Not luxury but as long as I have air con, hot water, fridge and a pool I am happy. If you google Poppies 1 Bali there is a list (off Bali Blog or some similar site I think) there is descriptions of every hotel along the lane. The info is a little bit old but useful. Also there is the same info for Poppies 2, Benesari Lane and Legian St. Many of these hotels are locally owned, charge in rupiah, great value and are a way of avoiding the resort type crowds.
