If you have looked it up now and seen only bad reports why did you not do that in the beginning??
You have not been overcharged if you cancelled the whole accomodation booking.
It may look like rooms are available for hotels on the net, but this is not always the case.
many have booked and paid online only to be told later, room not available. or to get to hotel to find , room not available.
Have you asked the agent to CHANGE your accommodation rather than just expecting a refund??
