Where to travel in Bali - THE REAL BALI

Hi everyone,
I have been to Bali before my girlfriend has not.
We were originally thinking to spend just 1 night in Kuta then travel elsewhere to see the real Bali...I originally thought Ubud but have since been told different.

Id be interested in hearing briefly about where you travelled...

We have only got 10 days...dont mind roughing it on accomodation...

Any advice would be brilliant!
