You are unlikely to be in Ubud until after 9PM. My experience is that the better money changers have lost interest by then. Either do as Baldie suggests or just change a $100 at the airport changers, rate not as good but it will only be a couple of hundred rp per dollar different which is only really 20,000rp out of your pocket. That will see you through till you get to an Ubud changer.
I would take plenty of rupe to Amed, there are some changers about but a poor rate.
