Actually, I am wearing one that I had made 17 years ago and it still looks good but 3 years ago I wanted a ring made to match, 1 coin and 35,000 rp later I had a ring and a green finger. I even went and watched them make it as I did not believe it was made from coins, I watched them melt down my coin and make it into a ring.
I asked him 2 days aler why it went green and my other has been fine and his answer was "Ah, yours is from old coin, Johnny Howard took the gold out of the coins since then".
Not sure what my bracelet is made of but I never take it off - shower, pool, beach etc, it stays on and stays "gold". Cost me two $1 coins back then.
