I would give rave reviews for BIMC. We did have insurance and before anything could happen you had to have payment guaranteed by the insurance, but care was fantastic.
Wife was hit by a motorbike and ended up with three breaks in the ankle and tibula (weight bearing bone). Ended up having to have surgery and two screws put in.
For people who think this is a scam, understand that insurance companies review diagnosis and xrays etc. before they will authorize procedures. Insurance companies aren't in the business of funding medical problems that aren't real. That said, our trip insurance was also very good coordinating with BIMC for the surgery and sending us back from Bali to the USA business class. I was almost feeling embarassed by this until I made the trip and realized how it would have been almost impossible in coach seating on relatively full planes.
Lessons I would take from this is if you are hurt in Bali, BIMC is very good. I also would make sure you get trip insurance. I got mine and compared a number of them. What I wanted (and it turned out to be very important) was to have the medical part to be the primary insurer. If that hadn't been the case we would have been waiting while the two insurance companies worked out who would provide the guarantee of payment and this could have been a nightmare.
