we would normally walk through the Jayakarta to the beach. If you turn right out the front of Jayakarta and walk up 20m or so there are a whole stretch of restaurants. Zanzibar is one of these (many of the other seemed really nice too). If you go on a Sunday night they have drummers/firedancers perform on the beach directly out the front at sunset.
Menu here is very reasonable. Don't quote me on this but from memory 2 adults and 2 small kids was around 200,000Rp.(about $25) eg decent pastas Marinara seafood approx 40,000; good pizzas around the same price. I also had the grilled tuna one night (around 45,000rp?)Plenty of choices for the kids.
At the other end of the scale was Ku de Ta. This is pretty much one for the adults to enjoy. Priced equivalent to a decent restaurant here. Dinner for 2 with a couple of drinks (inc glass of wine), entree and main was $150AUD.
