yes, whatever you can in terms of sporting equipment is always valued. soccer balls (remember a pump and repair kit!) always go down well anywhere in Indonesia (spent 3 months doing east and west timor with soccer balls as my entry price!)- badminton is also very popular. Volleyball- love it and a few places are using kanga cricket sets donated by the cricket bodies-there is a cricket club in Sanur by the way. )
charlie is right about language but if you can find a local or a teacher to asssit the language of sport is universal- see it kick it!
good luck. My teen has a six month placement with an environmental group next year as part of her gap year but she speaks Indonesian and has travelled through there a lot so can handle that ok.
