We went to Bali a number of years ago. We had heard how much the Balinese cherish their children and someone had posted how they brought toys for the kids. We decided to do the same.
We tipped the people at our hotel. On the last day we found out who had children and gave them some toys for their kids. There were bigger smiles than when we gave them cash.
We also handed out some on the streets. There was one woman who had two young girls. We asked if it would be ok to give them some toys. The mother said yes. We gave the older girl her toy and she was very appreciative. We then gave the younger girl a toy of her own and she beamed! I think she was used to sharing everything and it was very exciting for her to have something of her own.
It was a wonderful experience.
